Nau mai, haere mai — welcome to St Pius X School

It is my pleasure to welcome you to St Pius X School, a Catholic primary school for students from New Entrants to Year 8, situated in Melville, Hamilton.

At St Pius X, we want every child to feel known, valued and that they belong. We are a diverse and vibrant school community, enriched by the many cultures, languages and experiences of our students and their whānau. This diversity is an important part of who we are and of the way we are.

Our Catholic faith is at the heart of school life. We believe every child is created in the image of God and brings their own gifts, strengths and potential to our community. Through prayer, learning, service and the way we care for one another, we encourage our students to grow in faith and to live the Gospel in their everyday lives.

Our vision — To Learn Love. To Learn Wisdom. The Way We Are. — captures what we hope for every child who comes through our school.

To Learn Love is about learning to care for others, to serve, to show compassion and to understand the importance of community.

To Learn Wisdom is about being curious, thinking deeply, working hard and developing the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to continue learning and growing.

The Way We Are reminds us that each person is unique, created in God's image and called to use their gifts to make a positive difference.

Our values of Faith, Community, Service and Hope guide the way we learn, lead and live together. They can be seen not only in our Religious Education programme and prayer life, but also in our classrooms, our playground, our relationships and the way we contribute to our wider community.

St Pius X School was founded in 1958 by the Mission Sisters, and we are proud to continue the strong tradition they began. Today, our staff work hard to know our children well and provide learning that supports each student to experience success and make progress. Our strong sense of community means children of different ages regularly come together through prayer, liturgy, assemblies, singing, sport, leadership and whole-school activities.

We also recognise that a school is strongest when families, school and parish work together. Parents, whānau and parishioners are warmly encouraged to be part of school life, and we value the many ways our community contributes to our children's learning and wellbeing.

Our school continues to grow, with a maximum roll of 300 students. As demand for places is strong, families considering St Pius X are encouraged to make contact with us early to discuss enrolment.

I hope our website gives you a sense of who we are, but the best way to experience St Pius X is to come and see us. You are warmly invited to visit, meet our people and experience our school community for yourself.
